I adore broccoli. I had to take a week off of broccoli because it turns out a lot of the broccoli we have here in Canada comes from the USA. If you’re not following Canadian news, lots of people are reacting to the trade war and the “51st state” talk by boycotting products made in the USA. Not everything, since that seems impossible. But easy things. So I went a week where I ate baby bok choy instead of broccoli.
And then the broccoli came from Peru and Canada (greenhouses? I don’t know.). Anyway, I’m back on broccoli and I have to say, it makes me happy. There are lots of ways to enjoy it:
- in stirfries
- steamed
- tossed in oil and air-fried
- microwaved
- any of the above and drizzled with a tahini sauce
Wait? What? Did someone say broccoli drizzled with tahini sauce? Here’s how. Put a half cup or so of tahini that is a thick pouring consistency in a bowl or jar. Whisk in some soy sauce, a bit of water, and a good bit of lemon juice until it’s all blended and creamy and tangy and smooth. Pour it on your broccoli and prepare to be wowed. Keep the rest of the sauce in the fridge for future use.
Not saying that the haters won’t still hate. But the lovers will have found a new way to love.

Bon appétit!
