I missed my Fun Friday post this week but sometimes it spills over into Saturday and so far the world hasn’t ended as a result. Because another major passion of mine (besides trying to raise awareness about veganism and photography) is writing for an audience, I’m aware that best practices for blogs suggest a regular posting schedule. So for anyone who is on the edge of their seat each week awaiting the Friday post, all I can say is: I try!
Have you tried golden kiwis? I don’t quite remember how they first came into my world. I am not a big fan of green kiwis at all. They look cool but they often make my mouth pucker and feel odd. Even when perfectly ripe the sweet and sour of green kiwis just doesn’t do it for me. So I don’t know why or when I decided to try the other variant: golden kiwis.
Golden kiwis are a whole other story. They look the same on the outside. But the inside is a golden colour. The flesh is velvety smooth with no hint of tartness. When I cut a golden kiwi in half and eat it with a spoon it almost reminds me of a soft boiled egg (which I used to love but of course now don’t eat). Not that it’s runny. But it’s smooth and creamy and rich and mellow in the mouth. Of course it’s firmer. And sweet not savoury. And best of all, cruelty-free.
My hope with my end-of-the-week posts is to offer new vegan options for anyone to try. Sometimes making the shift to including more plant-based options is simply a matter of getting excited about a new suggestion. I’ve already had so much amazing feedback about the various recipes and foods I’ve written about in these Friday (-ish) posts. I know so many of us love food. And it’s gratifying beyond words to know that other people are picking up on my suggestions and sharing their joy back to me.
So today I say: go find yourself a golden kiwi.
You’re welcome.
Bon appétit!
