Yesterday I had to go back to London to sign some papers, so I took advantage of it to have lunch at PMK and to stop by V-Foodspot to get some donuts for last night’s dessert.
I’m not the biggest donut fan, but V-Foodspot does make a good donut and those donuts do indeed hold their own as a dessert. We had my brother and sister-in-law over for dinner last night. I made a vegan niçoise salad with roasted potatoes (done in the air fryer of course!), green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, artichoke hearts, parsley, in a lemon and red white vinegar vinaigrette, served with sourdough bread (also from London!).
The donuts from V-Foodspot are huge, so I cut each of the four into quarters so we could all try what we wanted. The options: cinnamon sugar donut, cherry pie donut, apple fritter, and old fashioned donut.
The niçoise was really good. But I think the donuts were even more beloved.
Donuts are one of those things that are easy to veganize but out “in the wild” it isn’t all that easy to find a vegan donut. My absolute favourites were from a place in Stratford called Planet Diner, but, sadly, it is no longer with us. V-Foodspot is a close second. I have not yet explored donut options in Toronto.
Here’s what our selection looked like:

Bon Appétit!
