Vegan Practically

Something to chew on (doesn’t taste like cardboard)

Decadent Vegan Yogurt

Giving up dairy can be difficult for people who like creamy things, including full fat yogurt. I’m here to tell you that you need not worry. Lately, I have encountered some deliciously decadent vegan yogurt called Yoggu! It’s made in Vancouver, so if you’re following the “buy Canadian” trend (admittedly, only the Canadians will be following this trend), then you’re all good.

It’s not all that easy to find Yoggu! but when you do, I recommend checking it out. It’s a thick and creamy yogurt. Nice and smooth. You do well to stir it. It has a bit of a tart bite to it, reminiscent of Greek style or Balkan yogurt, though it doesn’t claim to be either on the packaging.

It comes in a number of flavours: strawberry, mango, lemon, plain, and vanilla. Though the strawberry what I have in my fridge now, I’m going to vote for the lemon. That’s the first one I tried and it has stayed with me as an exceptional yogurt experience. I like swirling a bit of maple syrup around in mine.

The company prides itself on minimal ingredients. All of its yogurts have only four to six ingredients, with a coconut cream base and very little sugar.

Don’t choose this yogurt if you’re looking for something low fat. A half-cup serving has an astonishing (to me anyway — I don’t associate yogurt with this many grams of fat) 17 grams of fat. That tells you all you need to know about why it feels so luxurious. There’s really not a lot more to say.

Bon Appétit!
