Vegan Practically

I decided to reblog from last year because my CNE food experience was more or less locked in after my good choices last year. We went on Wednesday and I had my eating all planned out: Lick’s Nature Burger combo for lunch; watermelon drink as a refresher in the mid-afternoon (pictured); Eva’s soft serve berry sundae to close out the day.

A couple of things to note. Everything costs too much. The burger combo, for example, was $27. The burger on its own would have been $13.99, up a dollar from last year. Eva’s pricing has gone up a dollar too. The watermelon drink remains steady at $9.90. It definitely needs ice, so make sure to get ice to at least the green line in the cup and then give the ice a chance to cool the drink.

We also discovered some new things. There’s a place in the Food Building called Tuxedo Hot Dogs that has a vegan hot dog ($7.95) and a Beyond sausage ($13.95). Diane and my cousin had a float-type thing made with non-dairy Dole soft serve, both in tropical flavours (about $13 each). There was interest in the Twisty Potato (though we didn’t inquire about its vegan status, it looks like all they do at those stands is make twisty potatoes. It’s on Diane’s list for next year.

I also discovered various vendors selling dried fruit and nuts and Turkish delight. The fruit and nuts from the stand in the International Hall were exceptional. The Turkish delight in the Arts and Hobbies building, not so much.
